In conversation with Vanesa Lorenzo
On set for our latest Active campaign, we spoke with model, author, and wellness advocate Vanesa Lorenzo about movement, mindfulness, and what balance means to her.
How did your journey with health and fitness start?
I started out as a child, practicing classical dance, which gave me discipline and an early connection to movement. When I moved to New York at the age of 20, I discovered yoga. It became, and still is, a constant in my life. For me, conscious movement is not just about the body - it’s about awareness and connection, a way of inhabiting myself fully.
How do you create a sense of balance, being a busy working mum, travelling with work and with your own brand?
Motherhood has taught me to prioritize. For me, balance begins with careful planning and learning to manage my time in a way that honours both work and family life. Surrounding myself with trusted teams also allows me to create a work dynamic that respects vital cycles - not only my own, but also those of my family.

What inspired you to publish your own book?
When I first approached yoga, I found its philosophy fascinating but not always easy to access. That inspired me to write a book that would be simple, practical, and welcoming for anyone curious to begin this journey. My intention was to share tools that had helped me, in the hope that they could support others in bringing yoga into their everyday lives.
Walk us through your daily wellness routine. What are the self-care essentials you count on?
My routine changes depending on the stage I’m in, but there are principles I always return to. Since becoming a mother, I’ve learned that it’s not about how much time you have - even the smallest practice can be meaningful. That mindset allows me to weave in short but valuable moments of movement that keep me grounded. I combine three disciplines that complement each other beautifully: yoga, pilates, and strength training. And whenever I can, I love to spend time in nature, walking with my dogs. For me, wellness is not only about structured routines, but also about creating spaces to reconnect with myself through nature.

What are your favorite pieces to work out in?
When I choose what to work out in, I look for two things: a beautiful texture to the touch and a thoughtful color palette. Both are very present in this Varley collection, and they resonate deeply with me. Aesthetic pleasure matters - beauty is an important companion to any activity. Just because you’re working out doesn’t mean you have to give up the joy of wearing something that feels good and looks beautiful. The colors in this collection, in particular, have fascinated me; they make the pieces not only functional but also uplifting.
